200

Thats a fucking scary number. Its mean, its bold, its terrifying. Its the difference in being “chubby” and “fat”. At 190 I can say Im chubby and buy it, but 200 is a whole new animal. No woman of average height can say she is “chubby” at 200lbs. She is fat. I am fat. But not for long.

Yesterdays eating was pretty good - I went to a friends house last night for a fire pit and ate a marshmallow and three beers so that kind of shot me in the arse. Nothing to do about it now but eat better today.

I couldnt work out yesterday either.I pulled a muscle in my back at work and couldnt even really sit without pain.

Tomorrow will be better. Tomorrow will be better. Tomorrow will be better.

June Challenge

Starting tomorrow, the First of June, I will be beginning a challenge Ive set for myself to blog everyday - not just to reblog other peoples success pictures, but to actually keep an account of my eating and exercising and do a weigh in daily. Ive got a vacation Im heading to in two months and frankly, Ive got a lot of changes I want to make before then so… HUZZAH! here I come!

Healthy Vegan Brownies
Ingredients:
1 cup organic, unsweetened applesauce
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup flour (white pastry flour if available to you)
1/3 cup cocoa powder
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/3 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips (or carob chips, non-dairy chips, get creative!)
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 F.  Spray a glass 8x8 baking dish with a nonstick spray.
Mix the applesauce and sugar together first and stir.
In a separate, medium sized bowl, add together the rest of the ingredients in the order listed.  Add the applesauce mixture to the dry ingredient bowl and mix until blended!
Spread the batter into an even layer in the pan.  Bake for 25-27 min and enjoy :)
What to expect: They taste more rich than a store bought brownie.  Whereas you can stuff ‘regular’ packaged brownies in your face and still want more, these really hit the spot and satisfy your sweet tooth.  They looked cake-like, but tasted fudgy.  Awesome brownies!

Sometimes life makes living your life difficult

A few weeks ago I posted about a newly discovered love of early morning exercising that I was reveling in and enjoying. I was doing great, I was down about 7 lbs and really starting to feel a difference in my body.

And then life punched me in the face. I got a sinus infection AND bronchitis, which kept me out of most non bed places, including the gym. And then as I was starting to feel better, school decided to give me a quick upper cut to the jaw - swamping me with two voice lessons, a skills audit, two ten page research papers and four, FOUR midterms all in the same four days. Im not going to lie to you, I missed the gym, but not nearly as much as I missed sleeping. And now Im coming through the end of our Cosi Fan Tutte tech week, a week of five hour rehearsals and three show nights back to back.

So Im way out of my routine, Im trying hard to eat well enough to compensate but Ive gained back like three pounds. Im not worried though, everyday is a new day and im the only one responsible for my actions. Weve all seen that chart which projects what people think success looks like ( an arrow showing quick and steady growth ) and what it actually looks like ( like someone took the first arrow and gave it to a cat to play with and tangle ).

Success doesnt come without setbacks. Success is in surmounting the setbacks.

I always thought they were crazy…

All of my life Ive heard people talking about working out before work or school, about getting up way before they needed to just to exercise. And I always joked about them, about how that sounded painful and horrible.

And then I realized a few weeks ago that I could only work out before my classes everyday, meaning I have to get up at 6 am to workout and shower. It was hard at first, but soon i realized that I enjoyed it. Never did I realize it as much as today - when I had to go to the gym at noon. It was full of people on all of the machines, everyone was watching everyone, and I felt like I couldnt do anything. All I could think about was my times in the morning where I can use most anything for however long I want; about how there arent really any other girls so I dont feel like Im being judged by girls who dont really “workout”.

Its late and Im excited for my morning workout - Its happened to me, Im one of them. And I love it.
